Get Ready for #TGIT! Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Dish from PEOPLE, Entertainment Weekly and Essence's Exclusive Photo Shoot
WELCOME TO SHONDALAND
TGI(Almost)T! In order to celebrate the return of Grey's Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder on Sep. 24, the stars of ABC's hit Thursday night shows and their executive producer Shonda Rhimes (in red) gathered at the Jewel Suite at the New York Palace hotel for an exclusive photo shoot in collaboration with PEOPLE, Entertainment Weekly and Essence.
THE WOMAN BEHIND IT ALL
"Shonda's identity as a woman, and the fact that she is a mother, lends to an understanding of people's range of experiences in life," Scandal star Kerry Washington says of what gives Rhimes (with Washington's costar Darby Stanchfield) the personality to be successful at helming the production company behind three of TV's hottest shows.
Say cheese! Scandal's first lady Bellamy Young snaps her own shot of the star-studded day.
HTGAWM's Matt McGorry (center) chats with Scandal's Katie Lowes while flanked by the Grey's Anatomy cast (including Sara Ramirez, far right) at the shoot, which was meticulously planned by photographer Nino Muñoz.
NO DRAMA HERE
"There is a calmness that she exudes, even if internally that's not what's going on," says HTGAWM's Viola Davis (seated in white) of Rhimes.
STRIKE A POSE
Grey's Anatomy costars Kelly McCreary (left) and Jerrika Hinton find their light. No filters necessary – they already look fabulous.
LIGHTS! CAMERAS! SELFIES!

FITZ AND OLIVIA, REUNITED
"Shonda invites powerful, intelligent women to be her leads," says Washington (with her on-screen beau Tony Goldwyn).
THE #TGIT THREE
It's not every day all of the stars of your favorite shows are in the same room, and stars like Grey's Anatomy's Pompeo (left) and McCreary documented the day's events with plenty of pictures.
Rhimes takes a moment away from the photo shoot in order to cuddle up to her Scandal leading man, Goldwyn.
ABC's Thank God It's Thursday stars assemble to pose with their peerless leader. All three hit shows return Sept. 24, starting at 8 p.m. – better get your fingers warmed up for live tweeting.
