The actress' new HBO comedy is set to premiere Oct. 9
The 51-year-old actress addressed comparisons between the two TV series during her cover shoot for Marie Claire’s September issue, which hits stands August 16.
“I love the way the pilot episode opens because everyone’s asking, ‘Oh, is this a spin-off of Sex and the City?” the cover star told the publication.
“And the moment that the opening scene ends, and you see her give him the finger, you know it’s very different,” she said of her new 10-episode, half-hour HBO comedy, which is set to premiere Oct. 9.

During the show’s panel at the Television Critics Association press tour, Parker said of taking on her leading lady role of Frances in the show, “I think I just wanted to tell the story of marriage.”
“I don’t relate to Frances, her life is different,” Parker said of her character. “She’s a much more withholding chilly person than I am, she’s not very buoyant as you can see, she can be mean and angry but I love playing someone like that. I don’t need to relate to that.”
