The View cast better be keeping Rosie Perez‘s seat warm.

“I think I will be back to visit the ladies,” Perez told PEOPLE when asked if she’d return to the show as a guest co-host.

“I love them, and I love the show, it was just time,” the former co-host told PEOPLE at the USTA Foundation Opening Night Gala for the U.S. Open. The first Latina on The View decided to leave the show to focus on her acting career and took her final bow in early August.

While leaving the ABC show was “bittersweet” for Perez, 50, she openly admits that The View was “crazy, it was fun, it was hard, it was everything. It was like life.”

isn’t the only crazy little thing she can’t help but love. The idea of a possible 2020 presidential run for Kanye West is a current personal hot topic.

“I just heard that. I thought it was hilarious. I love Kanye,” Perez said in response to the rapper’s VMA announcement.

“You gotta ease up on him, you know? He makes insane, complicated, amazing good music, and when he acts insane and complicated we get mad at him,” she said. “We can’t have it both ways.”
