'American Horror Story' Actress Rose Siggins Dies at 43

The actress, who played Legless Suzi on the show, died after undergoing kidney stone surgery

Rose Siggins, who appeared on American Horror Story: Freak Show, died on Saturday morning at the age of 43, PEOPLE can confirm.

“I can confirm that the sad news is indeed true,” Siggins’ manager James Mullen told PEOPLE, adding that a GoFundMe page has been set up to defray Siggins’ medical expenses and to help support the actress’ two children, Luke and Shelby.

“I suppose Elsa Mars said it best: ‘The death of a beloved monster is always a sorrow, but never a surprise. If oddly formed organs or a random physical anomaly doesn’t claim them, then it is at the sheer density of their blaze. A carny’s life burns and brighter than most. It is bound to extinguish sooner,’ ” Mullen wrote on the GoFundMe page Saturday morning.

Naomi Grossman, Siggins’ AHS costar, tweeted her sorrow over losing her “homegirl” and included a sweet photo with Siggins.

Siggins was born with sacral agenesis, a rare genetic disorder, and suffered from kidney and pancreas issues her whole life. According to her website, the actress had her legs amputated at the age of 2. Her website also states that she was the first woman with sacral agenesis to ever carry and give birth to “a normal child” – and she did so twice.

She appeared as herself on Ripley’s Believe It or Not and Extraordinary People before being cast on AHS. According to her IMDb page, at the time of her death, Siggins was filming documentary Schlitzie: One of Us, which is scheduled for release in 2016.
