Three Tracy Turnblads are better than one!

Ricki Lake, who originated the lead role in the 1988 John Waters film, made a special cameo during Wednesday’s Hairspray Live! on NBC.

The 48-year-old actress appeared during the performance of “Welcome to the ’60s” alongside Marissa Jaret Winokur, who played the Baltimore teenager in the 2002 Broadway show.

In the scene, Lake and Winokur — who first revealed to PEOPLE earlier this month that they’ll cameo in the live musical — opened the doors for newcomer Maddie Baillio, who dragged her agoraphobic mom Edna (played by Harvey Fierstein) out of the house and into a meeting with plus-size fashion boutique owner Mr. Pinky (played by Sean Hayes).

This latest Hairspray revival also marked the first time Winokur has reunited with Fierstein, who played the role of Edna on Broadway alongside her. Both won Tonys for their parts.

Fans got a peek at Winokur’s wardrobe ahead of the live broadcast when producer Neil Meron shared a behind-the-scenes photo of the cast getting ready for the big debut.

In the photo, Winokur can be seen front and center, linking arms with costar Ariana Grande and wearing a metallic gold waist apron and bright pink dress that was accessorized with pink stranded wig. Viewers later saw that the costume would also be worn by Lake as well.

“I remember seeing the movie for the first time and thinking, ‘She’s doing it. I can do it too!’ ” Winokur told PEOPLE in Novemeber about how her predecessor inspired her to play Tracy.

When asked by a fan whether she is fond of Baillio, Lake had nothing but kind words. “I love her!!” the former talk show host tweeted along with a red heart emoji.

Actress Nikki Blonsky, 28, also starred as Tracy in the 2007 movie based on the musical.
