Rick Springfield has some news to share.

“Just finished my 1st day of shooting for season 2 of HBO’s True Detective,” the ’80s icon (“Jessie’s Girl”) Tweeted Wednesday. “What a great script. Working w/Colin Farrell and Rachel McAdams!”

Springfield, 65, will also join those already confirmed as cast members, Vince Vaughn and Taylor Kitsch.

Farrell, McAdams and Kitsch are slated to play police officers opposite Vaughn’s “career criminal,” though it remains to be seen how prominent Springfield’s role will be when the series returns next summer.

Primarily known as a singer, Springsteen also has major acting credits. Most recently, on Drop Dead Diva, he reprised his recurring role as Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital. He also played himself on Showtime’s Californication.
