Celebrities from across the world came together for NBC’s charity night event Red Nose Day. But did you ever wonder how they all got involved?

Well, it all started with a phone call from Seth Meyers to Chris Pine . . .

“Who is this?” Pine asked.

“It’s Seth Meyers, Chris. We’ve met like a million times,” answered Meyers.

Pine agreed haphazardly to Meyers’ invite to attend the fundraising event, then invited Emily Blunt to be a part of the fun (but not before the two reminisced about Into the Woods – in song, no less).

“I believe in it 100 percent,” Blunt told Pine. “What’s it called?”

“Red Rose Day,” Pine responded.

Blunt in turn relayed the invitation to her husband John Krasinski. “Honey, Chris Pine just called me and he wants us to help out with Red Rose Day,” Blunt said.

“That’s nice, what is it?” asked Krasinski.

“I think it’s something to do with gardening,” she said. “We should call everyone for help.”

“I’m on it,” promised Krasinski.

On and on the celebrity phone tree went, with calls to Zac Efron, Neil Patrick Harris, Diddy, Jennifer Garner, Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanca and Reese Witherspoon, who ends asking Myers to help out with the charity: “It’s called the ‘Day They Stopped Making Rosé’ and it benefits animals with alcoholism.”
