On Tuesday’s heart-wrenching episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County, Vicki Gunvalson learned of the passing of her mother, Joanne Steinmetz.

“What do you mean? What happened? No!” Gunvalson cried, after taking a phone call in the middle of a bunco party thrown by Shannon Beador. “Briana, I can’t do this,” she said to her daughter before collapsing on the kitchen floor. “Oh, my God. I don’t want to believe this.”

Continued Gunvalson, “How could she die? She wasn’t sick at all . Damn it.”

“What’s going on?” Beador asked, walking into the kitchen.

“My mom just died,” she yelled as Beador held her. “How could she die?”

“Oh my God. I’m so sorry,” said Beador.

“I just talked to her this morning,” said a stunned Gunvalson as all the wives rushed in to hold her and help her.

“There’s nothing you can do to make her feel better,” said Tamra Judge.

“I just want my mom back. I want my mom,” cried Gunvalson. “I have to go see my mom right now. I want to be with my mom.”

She continued in tears: “I need her every day. I need her so bad. Who’s going to worry about me? I don’t have parents now. I need my parents. I need my mom.”

Gunvalson finally reached her brother, Billy, nearly in shock.

“Billy, wake her, wake up,” she wept over the phone. “What happened?”

“I ran upstairs and tried to shake her to wake up, but she didn’t wake up,” her brother said. “I’ve lost my best friend.”

“I wasn’t ready to stop learning from my mom,” said Gunvalson. “I really don’t know how I’m going to function. I need her in my life. I don’t know why we have to die. I’ll miss my mom’s spunk. She had so much love for life. I don’t want this to be real.”

Gunvalson had previously called this episode gut-wrenching and had publicly expressed displeasure at Bravo’s season 10 promotion when it aired the clip of her breaking down over Mother’s Day.

“It’s the most terrible thing to have to relive again … Especially on Mother’s Day,” Gunvalson Tweeted in response to an upset fan in May.

The Real Housewives of Orange County airs Mondays (9 p.m. ET) on Bravo.
