Brooks Ayers Reveals He and Vicki Gunvalson Went to Couple's Counseling, Says Her Daughter Briana Has 'Daddy Issues'
"It was like the piano was lifted off of my back," Brooks Ayers says of the breakup
Brooks Ayers is telling his side of the story.
Real Housewives of Orange County star Vicki Gunvalson‘s ex spoke to E! News about their breakup for an interview airing Monday, and he admitted that he felt relieved when the relationship ended in August.
“We began seeing, of all things, a reality TV couple’s counselor,” Ayers said in a sneak peek of the sit-down. “We made the decision that we probably weren’t going to be for forever. It was like the piano was lifted off of my back, if you will.”
Ayers – who has been at eye of a dramatic RHOC storm this season as Gunvalson’s friends accuse him of faking cancer – also vented about Gunvalson’s daughter Briana Culberson’s criticism of him on the show.
“Vicki and I dated for a year prior to Briana even being willing to meet me. She never gave me a chance,” he said. “I think that Briana had some significant issues as a child growing up, some quote unquote ‘daddy issues,’ and that’s become quite evident through a lot of things that transpired.”
Culbertson is Gunvalson’s daughter from her first marriage, to Michael Wolfsmith. The couple divorced in 1992, and the reality TV personality was married to Donn Gunvalson for 16 years after.
Ayers’ interview airs Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET on E!
