It’s tough not having mom around.

Teresa has been away from her four daughters since starting her prison sentence, and it’s been particularly tough on Gia, 14. In a clip for The Real Housewives of New Jersey: Teresa Checks In, Teresa calls Gia on the evening of her 8th grade dance, just before she’s about to put on makeup.

Teresa brings her daughters to tears with the phone call.

“I’ve been thinking of you every minute, every second,” Teresa says. “I’m there in your heart.”

Gia tries to hide her tears, with Teresa saying she doesn’t want her daughter to cry in front of her grandfather, Giacinto Gorga. Gia later explains that Teresa worries people getting upset in front of Giacinto is dangerous, because of his health issues.

In another clip, Joe and Melissa Gorga help Gia celebrate her graduation. Though the Gorgas and the Giudices were known for feuding in the past, Joe Gorga insists in the clip that he’ll do anything for his niece.

“You know I’d run on water for you, right?” Joe Gorga says when Gia thanks him for coming.

Melissa talks about petty things coming between the family in the past – and says those days are behind them.

“Sometimes it takes a a horrible situation to make families realize how important one another are,” says Melissa. “I never, ever want to go back to that dark place again.”

Teresa’s husband Joe will head to prison after her sentence. The husband and wife were sentenced to 41 months and 15 months in prison in October 2014, respectively, after pleading guilty to mail, wire and bankruptcy fraud the previous March. Teresa’s sentence began on Jan. 5, and she is expected home in December.

The three-part The Real Housewives of New Jersey: Teresa Checks In premieres Sunday (8 p.m. ET) on Bravo.
