Taylor Armstrong is getting by with a little help from her friends.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 39, has been trying to take her mind off the recent split from her husband, Russell, by spending time with costar Kyle Richards.

“I’ve been trying to get her to go out and have some fun,” Richards, 42, told PEOPLE on Thursday at the premiere of Fully Charged, a Ringling Bros. & Barnum & Bailey circus production. “I’ve seen her a lot lately. I love Taylor, and I know she’s going through a hard time right now. I’m just being there as a friend.”

Luckily, Armstrong’s 5-year-old daughter doesn’t seem to be taking her parents’ impending divorce too hard.

“Kennedy’s doing well,” says Richards, who did an all-girls family day in Malibu with Armstrong earlier in the week. “She’s doing great. She’s kind of oblivious to what’s going on.”

In the end, Richards has faith her close pal will come out of this situation unscathed.

“She’s going to pull through,” she says. “She’s a beautiful girl, she’s a smart girl; she’ll get through it.”
