Viewers may have witnessed a first on Sunday’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta: A girls’ trip with little drama.
The wives had a lot of baggage to deal with (both the personal and travel varieties) during their jaunt to the Philippines, but they did leave something behind: NeNe Leakes.
Leakes stayed back to meet with the creative director of Cinderella, who gave her a taste of her own shade when her reading with him was, well, not nearly as magical as a glass slipper.
“I want to bring it,” Leakes said, suggesting she wanted to try out “two accents,” an idea that did not float well.
“You better bring it,” he said. “Your name is on the marquee.”
Meanwhile, the other wives stayed at a detox spa in the jungle. “If crazy can be buried, the Philippines is where it will be laid to rest,” said Phaedra Parks, who considered a coffee enema (“I don’t drink coffee, but I’m sure my butt wouldn’t mind a sip”).
In the spirit of burying the crazy, the ladies broke bread and made amends with Claudia Jordan, who has had drama with Parks and Leakes.
“I went through a messy divorce and annulment myself,” Jordan – who arranged the girls’ trip – confessed to Parks over lunch. “I went through a major depression … I had suicidal thoughts as black women, we try to pretend everything’s okay.”
“I appreciate Claudia’s willingness to support me through whatever turmoil I’m experiencing,” Parks said. “It’s the simple things that mean so much.”
Less simple? Yoga. At least for Kandi Burruss.
“Seems like people who do it are really in shape,” said novice Burruss. “It doesn’t look easy to me, and it’s not.”
What was easy, however, was falling asleep during yoga.
“Okay, Kandi fell asleep in the middle of yoga class,” Kenya Moore joked about Burruss, who woke up asking if the wives had heard her snoring.
They had – but at least there was no screaming for once, even between mortal enemies Parks and Moore, who finally agreed to sit down and talk privately next week.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs Sunday (8 p.m. ET) on Bravo.
