A day after telling PEOPLE that her family is stronger than ever, Melissa Gorga admitted she hasn’t been able to visit sister-in-law Teresa Giudice in prison.

“I requested to go, but I haven’t been approved yet,” she said Thursday night on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live.

“By her?” host Andy Cohen asked, alluding to past drama between the Real Housewives of New Jersey costars.

“No, I think it’s by the place,” Gorga said.

“I think it’s by her …” Cohen pressed, laughing, as Gorga insisted she was trying to keep things “diplomatic.”

“Are you trying to stir the pot?” The Real Housewives of New York City‘s LuAnn de Lesseps chided Cohen.

Although she hasn’t seen Giudice, 43, since she began her 15-month sentence for fraud last fall, Gorga has gotten updated through her husband, Joe Gorga.

“She’s doing as well as can be expected for the situation. She’s holding in there,” said Gorga, 36. “She’s really strong, and she’s really good at keeping it positive, especially when she talks to the girls on the phone.”

Later in the show, Cohen asked whether Gorga thinks Giudice and her husband Joe – who will head to prison to serve his own sentence once his wife is freed – will be able to stay together and make their marriage work.

“Absolutely,” Gorga answered simply.
