Raven-Symoné on Bill Cosby Scandal: 'We Will See What Happens'
"I'm sure it hasn't even scratched the surface. So, we will see what happens," the actress tells PEOPLE
The child actress was deemed too young for a role in Cosby’s 1990 film Ghost Dad so the comedian found a role for her on his hit sitcom The Cosby Show instead.
Though she looks back fondly at her time playing Olivia on The Cosby Show, she also acknowledges that her big break will now forever be tied to the rape allegations Cosby is now facing.
“Everybody has their opinion on [the scandal],” the actress, now 29, tells PEOPLE in the magazine’s latest issue.
When the allegations first resurfaced in late 2014, the former Disney star stayed tight-lipped on the subject aside from an Instagram post responding to rumors that she had been victimized by Cosby as a child.
“I was NOT taking advantage of by Mr. Cosby when I was on the Cosby Show,” she wrote at the time. “I was practically a baby on that show and this is truly a disgusting rumor that I want no part of! Everyone on that show treated me with nothing but kindness. Now keep me out of this!”
And while she says the scandal is still not a part of her “general conversation,” Cosby’s former on-screen granddaughter has weighed-in on the subject as a co-host on The View.
“As a co-worker and someone who admires people’s work … I choose my words [carefully],” she says. “[But] I’m sure it hasn’t even scratched the surface. So, we will see what happens.”
Cosby has not been charged with sexual assault and his lawyer has called the accusations “utter nonsense.”
