A year after publicly addressing her sexuality on Twitter, Raven-Symoné gave her first in-depth interview on the matter.

Appearing on Sunday’s episode of Oprah: Where Are They Now, the former Disney Channel actress, 28, told Oprah Winfrey: “I don’t want to be labeled gay. I want to be labeled a human who loves humans. I’m tired of being labeled.”

After years of speculation, Symoné opened up about her sexuality on Twitter after the Supreme Court overturned the Defense of Marriage Act in the summer of 2013.

“I can finally get married!” she Tweeted. “Yay government! So proud of you.”

“So was that your way of coming out?” Winfrey asked. “Saying you were gay?”

“That was my way of saying I’m proud of the country,” said the actress. “But I will say that I’m in an amazing, happy relationship with my partner, a woman. On the other side, my mother and people in my family, they’ve taught me to keep my personal life to myself as much as possible.”

“I try my best to you know, hold the fence where I can, but I am proud to be who I am and what I am.”

Speaking to Winfrey, the Cosby Show child star also discussed how other young celebrities stumbled in the spotlight – reportedly a dig at Lindsay Lohan.
