Ramona Welcomes New Housewife 'With Open Arms'
When The Real Housewives of New York returns to Bravo with its second season on Feb. 17 (11 p.m. ET), there will be six — not five — Housewives. Meet Kelly Killoren Bensimon, a model, author, single mom and socialite, who says she signed up for the show without ever seeing an episode.
“To exploit your life is revolting, but to explore your life is exciting,” Kelly recently told reporters of her decision to become one of the Real Housewives. “I am proud of everything that I do. I’m proud of everything my children do. I have no regrets about being on the show. It’s been fun. It’s been a great exploration and I would definitely do it again.”
Someone already doing it again, the outspoken Ramona Singer, wasn’t thrilled at first with the idea of a new Housewife, but she came around. “You know, part of me said, ‘Why mess with the mix?’ So I was kind of surprised that they wanted to add another Housewife,” she told reporters on the same conference call. “But when I met Kelly, she gave off this positive energy, with a big smile. Of course, I gravitate to that, so I welcomed her with open arms.”
Another thing she welcomed: drama. “I still say it like it is and you’re going to see me say certain things to Simon Van Kempen and Luann deLesseps — I just can’t help myself,” Ramona says. “If you’re doing something that bothers me I am going to tell you. I am not going to sit there and go behind your back and whisper it to Kelly and go, ‘Can you believe that?’ I’m going to say, ‘I’m sorry but I think you are being a jerk,’ or ‘I’m not happy with this,’ and you’ll see that in the show.” — Liz Berman
