As a former Miss World, one of Bollywood’s biggest draws, and now one of Hollywood’s hottest actresses, it’s safe to say that Priyanka Chopra has grown accustomed to being beautiful.
What might not sit well with the rest of the populace struggling with already faltering New Year’s resolutions is that the 33-year-old actress reluctantly admits that she does the bare minimum to maintain it.
“It’s a terrible thing to say, and I probably shouldn’t say it,” she told PEOPLE with a laugh at ELLE’s Annual Women in Television Dinner in Los Angeles Wednesday, “but I’m a lazy person when it comes to physical exertion. I don’t like gyms unless I need to for a movie, or a part, or a show.”
And while the Quantico star reaps all of the benefits, she takes none of the credit, instead deferring to powers much higher than herself or some glorified team of personal trainers or dietitians.
“I have a great Indian metabolism and genes,” she said. “So thank my parents for that, and I’ll take advantage of that for as long as I can.”
But blessed as she may be, even Chopra knows that the clock is ticking, and she has a somewhat unrealistic, albeit comic, sense of how quickly her body will turn on her.
“I’m pretty sure Nutty Professor will happen to me at some point, ” she said, laughing as she mimiced a suddenly protruding belly replete with “phoomph” sound effect. “And when it does I will go to the gym.”
Quantico returns with new episodes March 6 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
