Twitter's Biggest Show: Pretty Little Liars Breaks Another Social Media Record
Pretty Little Liars' premiere generated 1.3 million tweets from almost 700,000 users
The most-Tweeted-about TV series of 2013 has broken yet another Twitter record in the first weeks of 2014.
Pretty Little Liars‘ Season 4 return generated more Tweets than any other season premiere in TV history, according to Deadline. The debut inspired 1.3 million Tweets coming from nearly 700,000 users, which is roughly 30,000 Tweets for every minute of the show.
Pretty Little Liars stars Lucy Hale, Ashley Benson, Shay Mitchell and Troian Bellisario as a group of teens dealing with a web of secrets following their friend’s murder. The show is consistently a favorite among females 12-34, many of whom had a lot to say about the Jan. 7 premiere:
This social network success follows PLL‘s 2013 summer finale, which ranked as the most-Tweeted TV episode ever. Pretty Little Liars also draws impressive Twitter numbers on non-landmark episodes, even when the show isn’t even on:
Real-life drama among the stars helps the show stay trending as well. Benson, who plays Hanna Marin, recently sparked engagement rumors when photos surfaced of the actress wearing a band on her ring finger.
