Paula Abdul may be making a guest appearance on this week’s American Idol finale, but soon the singer will be back on primetime television every week — on her own show.

According to CBS, Abdul has signed on as lead judge, mentor, coach and executive producer of Got to Dance, an all-ages dance competition that’s based on a hit British show. The reality series, which will feature all genres of dance, is expected to air on CBS mid-season, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and will find a variety of acts competing in front of a panel of judges with viewers voting for their favorites during semifinals and finals rounds.

“I’ve spent the better part of my life teaching, mentoring, nurturing — working with so many talented — and I consider myself truly blessed to be able to continue to do something that I hold so dear to my heart,” Abdul said in a press release. “Each and every week we’ll showcase the challenges and successes of a fantastic group of dancers, as they perform and compete — compelling stories, exciting competition and amazing dance performances are guaranteed.”

After announcing her departure from Idol, Abdul has been the subject of plenty of casting buzz — with rumors spreading that she would possibly join Dancing with the Stars or even Simon Cowell‘s new venture, The X-Factor, which will debut on FOX in 2011.
