Pamela Anderson announced last month that she would run the upcoming New York City Marathon for charity. And it sounds as though Anderson will have one extra-special fan cheering her on: ex-husband Rick Salomon.

During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Thursday, the actress, 46, revealed that she and Salomon, 45, are “best friends … with benefits.”

When DeGeneres joked about how Anderson keeps “going back to the same guys,” the actress quipped: “It s recycling No, I’m very happy. We re happy. He’s a great guy.”

As for the marathon, it’s less than three weeks away, and the first-time participant swears she will cross the finish line – in any way necessary.

“I’m going to make it,” she insisted to a jokingly skeptical DeGeneres. “I’m not going to finish top 10 guaranteed, but I can walk, I can run, I can crawl. I can jump on someone’s back.”

Anderson will be running the Nov. 3 marathon to raise money for the J/P Haitian Relief Organization, which aims to save lives and bring sustainable programs to the impoverished Caribbean nation devastated by the 2010 earthquake.

The former Baywatch babe told DeGeneres she’s been training for the race for the past six months – even if she was a true novice before she started.

“I’ve never even run across the street [before this],” she joked. (Borat fans would beg to differ.)

“I started running and I hated it, of course,” she continued. “Everyone hates running for the first mile … and now I love it. I look forward to it. It clears my head.”

Although she’s only run 12 miles up until this point, Anderson said she has a strategy for making it to the finish line.

“I always think, if my son was hurt I could run 26 miles to him,” she said.

“You think that, but no,” DeGeneres joked.
