We already knew Sandra Bernhard is officiating, and Lea DeLaria just shared the bittersweet meaning behind the day she’s getting married to fashion editor Chelsea Fairless.

On The View on Friday, the co-hosts prodded the Orange Is the New Black star to reveal her wedding date.

“I don’t know, I have to look at my manager,” she said, peering into the crowd before getting the go-ahead and announcing she’s set to wed Jan. 8, 2017.

Why the long engagement?

“As you can see, Chelsea has much style,” explained DeLaria, 57, “She wants to plan the whole thing herself … that takes time.”

And more important, Jan. 8 marks the wedding anniversary of her late parents, she said.

The actress discussed how her OITNB character’s coming out as a butch lesbian mirrors her own, except for one important detail.

“The difference is, my parents learned. They listened to me, and I listened to them, and they realized it was better for me to be comfortable in my own skin than for me to be who they needed me to be,” she said. “And we came together and loved together.”
