Ready for some truthiness?

President Barack Obama took a while, but he made his first official visit to The Colbert Report as president Monday night.

The Commander in Chief dropped in for an interview, but before he sat down with host Stephen Colbert, the president took over the anchor desk to deliver an opening monologue, which he used to take shots – in Colbert’s trademark over-the-top tone – at himself and his healthcare plan. Per his ongoing press tour for his healthcare initiative (which also saw him making an appearance on Zach Galifianakis’s Between Two Ferns), he also raised some serious points about the plan.

Obama’s appearance is certainly pushing the envelope in terms of timing: The last Colbert Report will air Thursday, Dec. 18, at which point Colbert will retire his character and step into David Letterman’s vacated chair on The Late Show.
