'Nicole & Jionni's Shore Flip' 's Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi Talks Flipping Houses with Husband Jionni LaValle: 'We Did Bicker a Lot'

Starting a new business together wasn’t without its challenges and occasional bickering for Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and husband Jionni LaValle.

In their new FYI series Nicole & Jionni’s Shore Flip, the couple returns to the Jersey Shore to start a new house-flipping business. The nine-episode show, which premieres Wednesday night, follows Polizzi, 28, and LaValle, 28, as they embark on their renovation.

“We decided we wanted to do it down by the Shore because the Shore means a lot to us,” the Jersey Shore alum tells PEOPLE. “We met there, and ever since [Hurricane] Sandy hit, there’s a lot of homes that are still destroyed and families couldn’t afford to fix the house, so we kind of wanted to help out the community as much as possible.”

She adds, “Jionni always wanted to flip houses. It’s been his dream for awhile.”

Their first project was a home that was damaged in the 2012 hurricane, but the owner couldn’t afford to make all of the fixes. Because of his background in contracting, LaValle handled the construction eleements while Polizzi oversaw the design of the home, including assigning the rooms themes.

“We didn’t really disagree on a lot, but we did bicker a lot,” she says. “We were getting annoyed with each other because we were hanging out so much.”

Despite the bickering, this experience is definitely a wonderful thing for their relationship.

“We really never have alone time, and this isn’t really alone alone time, but it’s the time me and him can just be a couple instead of being parents,” she says.

Polizzi admits that the stress of the renovation did follow them home sometimes because they had a short amount of time to get it done, used their own money to fund it and were at risk of going over budget.

LaValle has used this series to start his own house-flipping business. Although he’s taking control of it, it’ll remain a “team effort” because LaValle “knows nothing about designing.”

Still, Polizzi gushes, “As a wife, I’m just really proud of him.”
