Nickelodeon's Loud House Will Feature a Married, Gay Couple – and the Twittersphere Can't Wait
The historic Nickelodeon episode will air on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
Nickelodeon is sending a message Loud and clear.
The company will introduce a biracial, same-sex couple in an upcoming episode of its animated series Loud House, making it the first show in Nickelodeon history to feature a married, same-sex couple, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The cartoon show focuses on the life of 11-year-old Lincoln Loud who lives with 10 sisters.
In the historic episode, Loud’s friend Clyde McBride heads to his house for a sleepover – with his overprotective dads in tow, according to a clip of the episode uploaded to Twitter.
Many have taken to Twitter to praise Nickelodeon for the progressive move.
“Can we talk about how AWESOME it is that Nickelodeon’s #TheLoudHouse feat. An interracial gay couple? #YesEquality,” one person tweeted.
Another Twitter user wrote: “The Loud House was already our new favourite cartoon and now they’ve gone and done this brilliant thing.”
The episode, titled “Overnight Success” will air on Nickelodeon Wednesday at 5 p.m. ET, according to Variety.
