Nick Jonas is going to be green, but not with envy.

As the host of the upcoming Kids’ Choice Awards, the singer has already made peace with the fact that he will be doused with Nickelodeon’s infamous green goo.

“But I feel like it’s an honor,” Jonas, 22, tells PEOPLE of being slimed. “It’s a rite of passage.”

Hosting the annual awards show has been “a dream” of the former Jonas Brothers member, who first attended the show with his siblings in 2006.

“To get to come back and host the show is a really incredible feeling,” says Jonas, who admits he grew up a SpongeBob SquarePants and Rocket Power fan. “I’m really looking forward to the night.”

And even though the show is just days away, the singer says his nerves have yet to kick in.

“But I’m sure they will,” quips Jonas, who will also perform his massive hit “Jealous” and new single “Chains” on the show. “I’m just looking to get up there and having a good time.”

The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards airs Saturday, March 28, at 8 p.m. ET.
