In an exclusive clip from Wednesday’s episode, Deacon (Charles Esten) is confronted by former flame Rayna (Connie Britton) about his refusal to buck up and fight after his cancer diagnosis. Though Rayna remains optimistic about Deacon’s chances of getting a liver transplant, Deacon refuses to accept any help – or hope. “I screwed up my whole life, okay? This is me getting what I deserve,” he yells. “I don’t get any kind of happy ever after, Rayna. This is how the song ends for me!” Then again, Rayna’s furious response is actually what will end this song, and many more, for Deacon. We’ll miss you, ol’ six string. You’ve served us well. Nashville airs Wednesdays (10 p.m. ET) on ABC.
