Rayna gets a call from a sobbing Juliette: "Something is really wrong"
There’s no shortage of drama in Nashville‘s season 4 premiere.
Slouched down on the bathroom floor, with mascara streaming down her face, Juliette can barely get out the words: “I can’t … I can’t.”
“You can’t what? What’s going on,” Rayna asks her. “Do you need help where are you?”
But before she can get a reply Juliette quickly hangs up the phone leaving Rayna to worry.
“This is really bad,” she says. “And something is really wrong.”
In the season 3 finale Juliette launched a snow globe at her baby’s father Avery (Jonathan Jackson) and baby Cadence and later fired Glenn (Ed Amatrudo) only to replace him with Jeff Fordham (Oliver Hudson).
And Juliette’s not the only one Rayna needs to worry about as season 4 picks up. The fate of her longtime love Deacon (Charles Esten), who was diagnosed with cancer, continues to hang in the balance after last May’s finale.
“We certainly left off with a cliffhanger in terms of whether Deacon lives or dies,” Britton tells PEOPLE.
While fans anxiously await the handsome crooner’s prognosis, Britton teases that “all the characters have sort of moved into different areas of their lives, [and] there are a lot of new twists for each character to be dealing with in this season.”
Nashville returns Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
