Each episode of Discovery’s Naked and Afraid chronicles the journey of one man and one woman, strangers to each other, as they try to survive 21 isolated days in the world’s harshest environments – without even the clothes on their backs.

Premiering Sunday, the new season chronicles survivalists in challenging locations including Guyana, Belize and Namibia.

In a clip exclusive to PEOPLE, one brave male extremist venture into what appears to be a tropical swamp to take down one of nature’s fiercest creatures.

As he fashions a giant noose out of tree branches and vines, the man explains that he’s out to snare a wild alligator.

The confrontation between the hunter and his giant conquest will send serious shivers down your spin as he “tries to maintain a very calm presence” while attempting to wrangle the gator – especially when he comes within feet of the predator.

In the beady-eyed face of danger, the man remains remarkably composed … and, yes, he is naked.

Naked and Afraid premieres Sunday at 10 p.m. ET on the Discovery Channel.
