Before Manti Te’o’s phony girlfriend scandal, there was Catfish to warn us about the dangers of online relationships.

On Wednesday, May 7, the TV show about young adults searching for the real person behind the online persona they fell in love with returns to MTV at 10/9c. PEOPLE has an exclusive look at all the shocking reveals, disturbing surprises and strange stories brewing in the show’s third season.

From sexy texts to entire families being duped, this trailer promises the wildest group yet – including celebrity appearances. Actress and supermodel Selita Ebanks will join Nev Schulman as a special guest host, while actress Tracie Thoms will appear as one of the first famous Catfish victims.
