MTV Australia Apologizes After Offensive Tweet About Eva Longoria and America Ferrera Needing 'English Subtitles'
The channel sent the seemingly racist tweet while America Ferrera and Eva Longoria took the stage to present an award
MTV Australia is under fire after sending an offensive tweet from their official Twitter account during Sunday night’s Golden Globe Awards.
“Where are the English subtitles? We have no idea what @AmericaFerrera and @EvaLongoria are saying,” the news and entertainment channel wrote in a since-deleted tweet.

“Hi, I’m Eva Longoria, not Eva Mendes,” said Longoria.
After receiving major backlash for the tweet, MTV Australia deleted it and attempted to make amends.
“Our Tweet was in reference to @EvaLongoria & @AmericaFerrera’s #GoldenGlobes joke. We sincerely apologise for causing offence,” they wrote.
Shortly after, they added, “We get it was a bad call. We’ll leave the humour to @rickygervais.”
