Dancing with the Stars has no problem asking the question “who leads” in an opposite sex dance partnership. But what about a same-sex partnership? When GLBT website recently asked network president Stephen McPherson about bending the gender rules on ABC’s hit reality competition, he said, “I think there’s no reason not to.” Adds DWTS executive producer Conrad Green: “It would make quite a statement in a way. I’m sort of open to it, but curious about the implications of it.”

Ousted contestant Steve Guttenberg might have (sort of) led the way when he rehearsed the tango with his partner Anna Trebunskaya‘s husband, pro dancer Jonathan Roberts, when she fell ill. (Relive the magic here.) While the Gutte got kicked off that same week, his “man-go” with Roberts was definitely a highlight of the show. –Jonathan Stern
