'Stranger Things' Star Millie Bobby Brown on the Hardest Part About Playing Eleven

Millie Bobby Brown may make it look easy, but her role on Stranger Things doesn't come without its challenges

Millie Bobby Brown may make it look easy, but her role on Stranger Things doesn't come without its challenges.

The 12-year-old actress opened up to Interview for their November coverabout what sets Eleven apart from other roles.

"It was different from other roles because in those I had to speak a lot. I had, like, paragraphs," Brown said. "I had to play a man in one of my shows, and kill my mum in one of my shows, so it's very weird the things I bump into. And in this show, I realized I didn't have to speak with my mouth, I had to speak with my face."

"Instead of actually saying I'm angry, I'm sad, I'm confused, I had to do it with my face, and that was challenging," she continued. "But I really enjoy playing a challenging role. I love playing Eleven."

It seems that Brown has figured it out, as fans – including celebrities like Aaron Paul – have fallen in love with her portrayal of the mysterious girl with incredible powers.

Of course, being part of the breakout Netflix show has its fair share of perks as well. Brown has performed "Uptown Funk" at the Emmys, snapped selfies with Peter Dinklage and become the inspiration for one of the most popular Halloween costumes of the year.

"At Comic-Con, people dress up as her. It's very rewarding in a way, and as strange as Stranger Things," Brown said. "People are embracing her character and trying to portray her. I think it's nice to see what different people think of her character."

"I'm cool with people dressing up as Eleven for Halloween," she added. "I definitely want to open my door and give them candy."
