"You are the most loving, caring and compassionate person I've ever known!" wrote Michelle's daughter Jessa
Happy birthday, Michelle Duggar!
The Duggar family matriarch turns 50 Tuesday, and she’s getting all the love from her family.
“Happy Birthday to the greatest mom ever! You are such an example to all of us young moms and someone I aspire to be like!” wrote Jill, 25, who shares son Israel, 1, with her husband Derick Dillard, 27.
“You’re not only my mom but one of my best friends!” continued Jill. “I am so grateful to God for you and your love for him! Mama, I couldn’t ask for a better mom! Now that I have a little guy, I understand more how blessed I was to have you as my mom!”
The post continued, “Your tender care and sweet, gracious spirit was always there to comfort us … and reprove us when we needed it. 😉 Your joyful attitude made our home a happy one. You chose joy even when things were tough. Seeing the love between you and Daddy made us girls dream about our future princes who would one day sweep us off our feet! You made sure we knew we could call you anytime about anything (& you still do!) and would stay up super late lending a listening ear to anything that might be on our hearts.”
“The longer I live the more blessed I realize I am to have you as my mom,” she added. “Thank you mama for teaching us to love Jesus and serve others! I love you! Happy Birthday!”
“Everywhere I go, people come up to me and say ‘I just love your mom!’ ‘I wish I had an ounce of the patience that she has!’ ‘How does she do it?’ ” wrote Jessa. “People are drawn to your smile. You are real and genuine. You are truly happy. You are a strong woman. I’ve been around you all my life, and I can testify to the truth of this statement! I do not know a better woman than you. You are the most loving, caring and compassionate person I’ve ever known!”
“Jesus shines through you, and that is what is most attractive,” she added. “Your words are uplifting and kind. His love flows through you to everyone you come into contact with. You are not a perfect person. You mess up like everybody else. But you are humble and are quick to make things right.”
Jessa went on to compile a thoughtful list of things she’s most thankful for in her mother, such as “not stopping at four kids,” “carrying on joyfully even after nights of minimal sleep” and even “letting us eat leftover pizza for breakfast.”
“Coming up with this list of things I’m most thankful for in you was the easiest thing I’ve ever done!” wrote Jessa. “You’re a gem.”
Michelle appears on her family’s reality show, Counting On, which airs Tuesdays (8 p.m. ET) on TLC.
