With Kelly and Michael will soon be no more. ABC announced Tuesday that Michael Strahan is ending his four-year run with Kelly Ripa on Live! to join GMA as a full time co-anchor in September. “I look forward to continuing to work with the incredible team at GMA,” Strahan said in a statement. “It is an exciting opportunity to be able to bring unique stories and voices to the audience.” The former NFL pro joined the GMA team back in 2014 appearing twice a week while co-hosting Live! at the same time. “My time with Live! With Kelly and Michael has been transformative, and my departure will be bittersweet,” added Strahan. “Kelly has been an unbelievable partner, and I am so thankful to her and the entire team. I am extremely grateful for the amazing support I’ve received from all of the fans.” As for who will fill his shoes at Live!, the show will kick off a search for a new co-host when the season returns in the fall. “I’m delighted to welcome Michael to GMA each and every morning,” said ABC news president James Goldston. “I can’t wait to see what this incredibly talented team will bring our viewers next.” Live! With Kelly and Michael airs weekdays (9 a.m. ET) on ABC.
