What’s Fashion Police without the legendary Joan Rivers? We’re about to found out.
“Yes, Fashion Police will continue,” Melissa, 46, said during E!’s Fashion Police: Remembering Joan special.
Added Melissa: “We’re going to hit pause for a little while, but Fashion Police will be back in January.”
“I really want to thank all of the Joan Rangers for the outpouring of love and support, it has meant so much to Cooper and me,” she continued, calling out her 13-year-old son. “From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”
Fashion Police cohost Kelly Osbourne, 29, credited Joan with giving her the confidence to speak her mind.
“If it wasn’t for [Joan], I wouldn’t be able to be me,” she said. “My mother wouldn’t be able to be her. Any outspoken, independent woman wouldn’t be who they are if it wasn’t for women like Joan paving the way.”
Melissa went on to share her favorite memories of seeing her mom on the Fashion Police set.
“Nothing made me smile more than when she would crack herself up before she even got to the punch line of a joke,” she said. “She knew what was coming and she was laughing before she even said the funny part.
In a statement, E! confirmed that the popular series would return next year, saying it has “thought long and hard about what Joan would have wanted as it pertains to the future of Fashion Police. We decided, with Melissa Rivers’s blessing, that Joan would have wanted the franchise to continue.”
The show will be back on the air in January 2015 beginning with the Golden Globes, though the network did not announce details of who would replace Joan.
