Melissa Rivers spent an evening remembering her mother Joan Rivers.

The E! tribute Remembering Joan, highlighting Joan’s best Fashion Police moments comes one day shy of her unexpected death on Sept. 4, 2014, at the age of 81 following a surgical procedure.

“We are remembering her the only way she would have wanted, and that’s through laughter,” said Melissa at the top of the show. “While Joan loved dogs, her favorite word was definitely more related to cats.”

Cue a supercut of numerous Joan double entendres about stars’ pussy cats and their anatomy.

Melissa also noted, “Some parents never talked to their kids about sex. My mother on the other hand, never stopped.”

She then showed footage of Joan fawning over a photo of Ryan Gosling with his 11-and-a-half-year-old dog, the love of his life.

“In human, that’s about 78 years,” Joan said in the clip. “So Ryan…Guess who else is 78 and also likes it doggy style?”

Melissa noted “outrageous was normal for Joan Rivers,” and said it didn’t get much better than being roasted by Joan. Here’s what Joan had to say about some of her favorite targets:

On Courtney Love: “If you dug up Kurt Cobain right now, he would look better than she does.”

On Jennifer Lopez: “Learn to look like a star. You’ve got to do three things: Exercise, get enough sleep, and f— the brains out of anybody.”

On a particularly outrageous necklace worn by Rihanna: “I said RiRi, how do you feel about the choker? She said ‘Joan, I still love him. I can’t help it.’ ”

Melissa recalled that her mother used to tell her, “You don’t’ have to be perfect, because I already am.”

Melissa had a little fun proving that wasn’t actually true by showing off some of Joan’s biggest bloopers.

Among them, Joan referring to as Slim Shady as Slim Shandy, and telling Boy George he was “erogenous” (she meant androgynous).
