Melissa McCarthy: actress, writer, producer and now, officially anointed comedic genius.

McCarthy will be honored with the Comedic Genius Award at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards in recognition of her “bold and fearless comedic style” in her long list of comedy films as well as in her small-screen projects such as Mike and Molly.

She is also being honored for her work behind the screen, writing and producing many of her own films including her latest project, The Boss.

McCarthy will be the first woman to win the award. Past winners include Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell.

“Honoring Melissa McCarthy with MTV’s Comedic Genius Award is exciting on so many levels, it’s the first time this award is going to a woman which is fantastic,” MTV said in a statement. “We love Melissa for her performances but she also writes, produces and directs comedy, so this award is incredibly well deserved. The most exciting thing about Melissa is how brave she is, you don’t want to miss her moment in the show.”

The actress is no stranger to the award ceremony. Previously, she nabbed the prize for Best Comedic Performance and Best WTF Moment for her turn in Bridesmaids.

The MTV Movie Awards, hosted by Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, airs Sunday, April 10, at 8 p.m.
