On Wednesday’s MasterChef, our final 11 home cooks got a surprise visit from the beautiful Eva Longoria! Not just a pretty face, Eva is a serious restaurateur. Defying the stereotype of the absentee celebrity restaurant owner, Eva is the real deal. She knows food and the nuances that make this industry so trying. It was a pleasure having her guest judge in the MasterChef kitchen.

Savannah has really been coasting in this competition, but Eva’s Mexican-themed mystery box gave her the opportunity to showcase her capabilities. Her plate was impeccable – and honestly I didn’t think we’d see that level of cookery from her.

Despite the red team’s loss during the fish taco challenge, I think Jessie greatly underestimated Savannah’s ability to effectively lead and organize a team. Savannah is a schoolteacher – what do you think they do all day? She makes her living corralling kids (who would rather be anywhere else in the world besides school) and helps them to perform to the best of their abilities. Though the loss was quite staggering, she had control of her team. Nicely done.

We’ve seen Lynn fail under pressure before, but no one was prepared to let him go at this point. We judges had him pegged as a possible top three. Eliminating someone whose raw talent clearly surpasses many of our remaining contestants was difficult, but unfortunately it was the right thing to do. That dish – I don’t even know what he claimed it was – is indeed the absolute worst we’ve seen post-audition rounds in the history of MasterChef. You can’t advance into the Top 10 after producing such inadequacy. Had he put forth this plate during casting, he’d have never made it to L.A.

Speaking of never making it to L.A., had we heard the mouth on Krissi earlier, she might never have left Philly. I don’t mind a little attitude and spunk, but her behavior in the wine room was embarrassing – not to mention unproductive – and that bothers me. Keep quiet and cook, Krissi.

Only nine home cooks remain to face next week’s challenges! Tune in at 9 p.m. ET on Fox and thanks for reading!
