One of the most buzzed-about scenes in The Wolf of Wall Street involves Leonardo DiCaprio‘s character losing control while on the sedative-hypnotic drug Quaaludes. The film’s director, Martin Scorsese, reveals that, although his team had a “Quaaludes expert” on set to ensure realism, they also could’ve easily drawn from his own experience.

Speaking on Conan Tuesday night, Scorsese revealed that he’d been prescribed Quaaludes years ago for his fear of flying. “You took that pill, you didn’t care where you were … You wanted to hug everybody.”

“I want to take a flight with you when you’re on Quaaludes,” Conan O’Brien joked. “We’re just hugging each other, you’re crying. That sounds like fun,” he said, before turning and pointing to the camera: “But don’t do it, kids.”
