The FYI reality series premieres Oct. 13

The honeymoon phase may be over for the couples on Married at First Sight: The First Year.

“Someone once said to me, “Marriage isn’t work. It’s love, and if you love someone, it shouldn’t be work,” Jamie Otis, who is married to Doug Hehner, says in an exclusive preview of the new season. “I love Doug, and it is a lot of work.”

This season finds Hehner and Otis questioning whether or not their marriage is built to last. Otis admits she’s struggling with feelings for her ex, while Hehner feels like he’s the only one putting in effort.

“It feels like we’re not connected, and it really feels like she just doesn’t care,” Hehner says to a friend.

Are Hehner and Otis heading for an unhappy ending? At one point in the clip, Hehner declares, “We’re done.”

Meanwhile, Jason Carrion and Cortney Hendrix, the show’s other couple, seem to be having an easier go at marriage. They’re taking pole dancing classes together, and Carrion proudly says that their relationship has grown “leaps and bounds” since the first season.

“We want to become stronger than ever because nothing is going to break us,” he shares.

Hopefully, both couples make it to the end of the season, because all three couples in Married at First Sight‘s second season decided to separate.

Married at First Sight: The First Year‘s second season premieres Oct. 13 at 9 p.m. ET on FYI. Visit PEOPLE’s Periscope and Twitter feeds during the episode to get inside details from Otis and Hehner as part of their social takeover.
