The Dancing with the Stars pros are thinking big when it comes to their nuptials
The recently engaged couple have been doing a lot of thinking about what kind of wedding they’ll have – and they’re thinking big!
First order of business? “A castle,” Chmerkovskiy, 35, told PEOPLE at the Winter Wonderland Ball for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in Hollywood on Saturday. “A castle with a carriage,” added Murgatroyd, 29.
And the bride’s look will also be fittingly grand. “I do want a long train,” she said. “And I just want my loved ones around me – only the people that just genuinely adore us.”
“That’s about a 500-person wedding,” said Chmerkovskiy.
The pair, who haven’t officially set a date yet, are still reeling from their emotional engagement on the dance floor of the Olympia Theatre in Miami, Dec. 5, where Chmerkovskiy told his bride-to-be, “I’m in love with you, and I will be in love with you for the rest of my life.”
Though Chmerkovskiy admits he almost got cold feet before the proposal.
“This was pre-planned in my head for a long time,” he said. “But just like everything else, I plan it and then right before, I’m like, ‘Maybe I should rethink it.’ I knew I was going to do it, I just didn’t know what to say until the last second. I knew how I felt, but it wasn’t something you can write and practice as a speech.”
Ultimately, the dancer accomplished his mission. “I just wanted her to have this amazing moment that she can remember for the rest of her life.”
