Lauren Conrad‘s holiday season will be filled with an extra dose of love this year.

In July, the Celebrate author and her husband, William Tell, welcomed their first child together, son Liam James Tell, and in a few weeks, they’ll be celebrating his first Christmas. Looking ahead to Dec. 25, Conrad, 31, is excited to carry on a very special family tradition with her 5-month-old baby boy.

“We have a really nice Christmas Day where we spend the morning with my in-laws. We all wear matching pajamas and do presents. And then we spend that evening at my parents’. And actually in the last two years, my in-laws have joined as well, and we have all of our family together Christmas night, and we have a big dinner and do a gift exchange. It’s fun!” Conrad tells PEOPLE exclusively.

This year, the Hills alum, along with and her husband and infant son, will be spending the holidays in Southern California.

“We’re very fortunate — both of our families live right next to us, so we don’t need to travel over the holidays. So that helps us relax a bit,” she shares. “So we’ll just be doing lots of family time and lots of celebrating.”

The clothing designer has partnered with Kellogg’s to open the brand’s new café in New York City’s Union Square neighborhood — which will feature a DIY cereal bar and is good for breakfast, lunch and dinner — and created three cereal-inspired creations for the menu (“Nutty Parfait,” “Apple Pie” and “Wake Me Up”).

Conrad says she’s looking forward to dressing “tiny” Liam in adorable Christmas-themed apparel.

“I’m looking forward to the cute outfits. I’ve had so much fun buying him tiny Christmas sweaters and pajamas,” she says.

Conrad says her son is “changing every day,” and his little personality is beginning to shine through. Plus, he appears to be taking after one of his grandpas!

“He’s still pretty tiny. We always keep saying that he’s a tiny version of my dad,” Conrad says. “He kind of looks like him and he has a lot of energy. My dad has more energy than anyone I know.”

“He’s a very loved child!” she adds.

With 2018 fast approaching, the New York Times best-selling author has a personal goal in mind for next year: balance.

“I don’t have a resolution yet just because we’re just trying to make it through the holidays at this point,” says Conrad, “but I think this next year is going to be for me personally just finding balance in my life, being able to kind of juggle all the different things.”
