Anna Nicole Smith may be gone, but Larry Birkhead sees so much of her within their daughter Dannielynn Birkhead.

On Tuesday’s episode of The Steve Harvey Show, Smith’s ex opened up about how he’s raising his 9-year-old daughter with the late model and reality TV personality.

While letting Harvey’s cameras into his home and into their lives, viewers were able to see just how involved Birkhead is in Dannielynn’s life – starting from the moment she wakes up.

“It’s a lot of work, but there’s a lot of reward there,” Birkhead began. “Everyday is like an adventure, it’s a little bit of a struggle. You don’t have enough time in the day and you alway wish you had that extra pair of hands to help out.”

From picking out Dannielynn’s clothes to helping her with homework, the 43-year-old father does it all.

“It’s tough raising a little girl without a mom,” he admitted. “You always want to make sure you’re doing the right things and a thing that a mom would choose that a dad might not choose. There were days on the playground where she would say that she wants her mom back … it’s tough for her to visit the grave. It makes me emotional thinking about everything we’ve been through. It’s just been a roller coaster.”

Dannielynn was just 5 months old when her mother died age 39 of a drug overdose in Florida.

Birkhead went on to say that if his ex were here, she’d be “proud” of how Dannielynn turned out.

“Things could have turned out a lot different,” he said. “I think in a sad tale, this is kind of the happiest ending that you could have.”
