Kobe Bryant left a Los Angeles Lakers preseason game early Tuesday to be by former teammate Lamar Odom‘s side at a Las Vegas hospital.

Bryant left the game during the third quarter, and the Lakers cited personal reasons for his exit. The athlete left the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas to visit Odom, who was hospitalized after being found unconscious at a brothel in Nevada.

A source tells PEOPLE that Bryant spent several hours by Odom’s side and left the hospital at about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Bryant was joined by the Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak.

Bryant, 37, and Odom, 35, played alongside each other for several seasons as members of the Lakers, and the pair won the 2009 and 2010 NBA championship together with the team.

Also at the hospital is Lamar’s ex Khloé Kardashian, her mom Kris Jenner and her sister Kim Kardashian West.

“Everyone has dropped everything to get there,” a source close to the family tells PEOPLE. “They are asking their close friends to pray for Lamar, for healing and strength.”

The source says that while there is confusion about Odom’s condition and the famous family doesn’t know the extent of his injuries, they have “been told that this isn’t just a minor thing; that it was extremely serious.”

While Bryant has not officially commented on Odom’s condition, Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade, 33, sent his well wishes to Odom on Twitter.

“PRAYERS all the way UP for my brother Lamar Odom!!!” Wade wrote, later adding: “I can’t help but be up right now thinking about my ex-teammate/friend LO…On my knees praying…please God let him pull through.”

On Monday morning, Wade took to Twitter again to ask followers to pray for the former basketball star in a series of tweets.

“I pray ths morning for my brother. Dear God he’s one of the good ones. PLEASE watch over him and listen to his heart speak #PrayersForLamar,” Wade wrote.

The Miami Heat organization also sent their thoughts and prayers to Odom, and Lakers assistant coach Mark Madsen said everyone on the team is “thinking, praying and pulling for well being.”

Odom was taken to a local hospital on Tuesday after being found unconscious at around 3:30 p.m. at the Love Ranch South. He was intubated and then rushed to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas for further treatment.

Dennis Hof, who owns the brothel, told PEOPLE the former NBA star arrived at the establishment on Saturday and took herbal Viagra during his stay.
