Lamar Odom Will Move from Hospital to Live-in Rehab: 'He's a Fighter!' Source Says
Lamar Odom nearly died from an overdose in October
Lamar Odom is making another enormous stride in his recovery from his near-fatal October overdose: being discharged from the hospital.
The former NBA player will move from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles – where he was airlifted from a Las Vegas hospital after being found unconscious in a Nevada brothel – to a live-in rehabilitation center, a source tells PEOPLE.
“The plan is for him to move in the next few days,” the insider adds. “At the center, Lamar will continue to receive amazing therapy. He still has many challenges but is making progress. He is a fighter!”
Odom, 36, cannot yet walk on his own and has suffered from cognitive impairment, speech problems and kidney damage since the health care. Doctors discovered cocaine and opiates in his system back in October, when he laid in a coma for four days.

Despite the hurdles to come, estranged wife Khloé Kardashian – who threw him a small birthday party in Cedars and visits every holiday – will surely remain by Odom’s side.
“There is a very long road ahead of [Lamar],” she told PEOPLE exclusively. “He has to walk that road by himself, and, most importantly, he has to want to walk that road. I will be there supporting him every step of the way.”
