Kym Johnson on Why She Waited to Wed: 'I Wasn't Ready to Settle'
“I always imagined I’d be married by 30,” says Johnson, who turns 40 on Thursday. “I was engaged in my early 20s but it wasn’t right. I had to go with my gut.”

Once the DWTS pro moved to Los Angeles, she had years of unsuccessful dating. “I was nonstop working,” she says. “It was difficult to be in a relationship. I thought marriage just wasn’t for me.”
But still, “I think there’s a stigma,” says Johnson. “People look at you if you’re not married and they think, poor you, but that wasn’t the case. I was really happy with my life. Of course I wanted to share my life with someone but I wasn’t ready to settle and be with someone just for the sake of being with someone.”
Now, “I know it’s the real thing,” she says of her romance with Herjavec, 53. “He’s the most incredible person. And I feel so lucky to go through life with someone who loves me so much. And I’m glad I waited for Mr. Right!”
