Everyone needs time and space to heal after a breakup, and Sunday’s episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians was all about Khloé Kardashian trying to go on with her life as her divorce from Lamar Odom moved forward.

By her side throughout the process and constantly checking in on her was sister Kim Kardashian West, who stopped by Khloé’s house to ask how she was doing.

“I don’t know, the whole thing just sucks,” Khloé replied, looking upset as she explained that she was finally starting to understand that her chapter with Odom – which was such a “huge part” of life – was finally ending. (At this point, Khloé and Odom had signed divorce papers but a judge had not yet finalized the process. Currently, the two remain married as Khloé called off the divorce proceedings after Odom was hospitalized for a near-fatal overdose in October).

“He can’t commit to making us better so I have to now step away and do what’s best for me,” Khloé said.

To take her mind off of the painful split, Khloé, 31, decided to travel to the Black Jaguar White Tiger wild animal sanctuary in Mexico with her sister Kendall Jenner, 20, and Kris Jenner‘s boyfriend Corey Gamble, 35. Kris declined to come because she had “so much going on.”

The trio got along well throughout the trip, with Gamble further proving he’s quickly becoming part of the famous family – in fact, at one point Gamble even joked that he and Kris, 60, have more fun than Kylie Jenner and her boyfriend Tyga.

At the sanctuary, they visited jaguars, lions and tigers of all ages with owner Eduardo Serio – and Khloé got particularly brave when she agreed to step inside the cage with several fully-grown wild cats with Serio.

While Kendall panicked and was near tears, Khloé stayed calm and later said the trip was exactly what she needed and even felt therapeutic.

While her sisters were in Mexico, Kylie was preparing to do some traveling of her own for a club appearance to celebrate her 18th birthday in Montreal, Canada, which got momager Kris worried because the drinking age there is 18.

“It’s not my favorite thing for her to do,” Kris admitted to Kim, 35, and close family friend Jonathan Cheban, while the three hung out at Kris’ home.

“I just don’t want her to grow up too fast. I just want to keep her in check,” she continued.

“Kylie is a decade too soon. What will she be doing when she’s 30?” Kim wondered, while Cheban joked that Kylie was in “fast-forward” and would be having kids by the time she’s 22.

Kim, meanwhile, was heavily pregnant and made it very clear this would be her last baby: “This is it, one [hundred] [percent]. One of each and I’m good,” added the now mom-of-two, daughter North and son Saint.

Later, Kris showed up at her youngest daughter’s house to make sure she would be on her “best behavior” on her upcoming club appearance and Kylie assured her mom that she “wasn’t planning on drinking.”

“I’m grown now. I’m 18. I can handle all of this on my own,” she said during an on-camera interview.

That being said, the party ended up being far wilder than she expected or had experienced before: “I have done so many appearances, but no one is really drinking at my book signings,” she joked, though she took care of herself and the appearance went by without a hitch.

“I appreciate my mom for being overprotective but I feel like I have been raised well enough that I know how to handle situations like this,” Kylie added.

Meanwhile, Khloé returned from Mexico to find out that Kris had been communicating with Odom via text message and FaceTime – and not only that, but that she had given the former NBA star her daughter’s new number.

After getting a phone call from Odom, a shocked Khloé accused him on “being in cahoots” with her mother, whom she was absolutely furious with for the fact that Odom was now able to contact her again.

“It infuriates me and it hurts my feelings. I love that love that she has for him but sometimes you have to keep relationships separate,” Khloé said in an on-camera interview.

Kim was also extremely angry with her mother for getting involved in Khloé and Odom’s relationship right when her sister “finally got the balls to divorce him.”

While Kris asked Kim to not “make such a big deal out of it,” Kim screamed at her mother for sounding “so stupid” and Khloé criticized Kris for turning her back on her, reminding her that she had defended her mother throughout the Caitlyn Jenner drama and “that was [her] dad of 23 years.”

“You know what? You and I need a major break from each other,” Khloé said to Kris over the phone.

“I feel like he needs us,” Kris later explained in an on-camera interview. “Lamar doesn’t have a lot of extended family so when he reaches out, I’m going to respond. That’s what my heart tells me to do.”

After the blowout argument with her two daughters, Kris turned to Gamble for support, telling him she had “the worst day ever.”

“My kids are my first priority. I think I’ve proven that in the last 36 years,” Kris defended herself.

“Sometimes a situation just backfires in your face even when you have good intentions,” Gamble said.

Up next, the family takes a “girls trip” to St. Barts – and Kylie stirs up drama when she brings Tyga along.
