As Kim Richards remains "devastated" by the death of her ex-husband Monty Brinson, family and friends are posting on social media to mourn the man with a “heart was a big as the moon.”
Paris Hilton posted a collage of photos of Brinson on Instagram, writing, “Heartbroken to hear the sad news of my Uncle @MontyBrinson’s passing after his long brave battle with cancer. He was such an incredible man with such a huge heart. He was so insightful & positive about life, even with all he was going through. He always had a smile on his face & lit up the room with his positive energy & fun personality. He will be truly missed.”
Hilton’s father Rick also paid tribute to his former brother-in-law on Instagram: “We have lost Monty Brinson after a brave battle with cancer. His heart was a big as the moon and he was loved by all he Met. He will be sorely missed. I love You always!”
Richards and Brinson’s daughter Brooke, whom Paris named in her post, also expressed her grief on Instagram, writing in part: “My father fought till the very end and never gave up. He was surrounded by everyone he loved and went peacefully. Today is bittersweet knowing that he is at peace and doesn’t have to fight this horrible disease anymore. Thank you everyone for your kind words.”
And Richards’ former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills costar Camille Grammer sent her sympathy via Twitter, linking to news of Brinson’s death and writing, “So sad Lovely man with a kind heart. My condolences to Kim and his family.”
Brinson was married to Richards from 1985 88. A year after they married, the two welcomed their daughter, Brooke, who is now 29.
After their divorce, the two remained close friends, particularly in recent years as Richards, 51, took care of her ailing ex as he fought cancer. In turn, Brinson supported Richards throughout her struggle with addiction and recent brushes with the law.
“He is the sweetest soul,” Richards’ former RHOBH costar Brandi Glanville told PEOPLE in November. “You can’t help but love Monty. He’s always kind to everyone across the board. He’s a good solid guy.”
