Family Has Made Kim Kardashian West 'Feel a Bit Better' After Scary Paris Diamond Heist: Source

“Kim is just happy to be back with Kanye and the kids,” a source close to the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star tells PEOPLE. “She is still upset, but being with the kids made her feel a bit better.”
Following the terrifying robbery, a very shaken Kardashian, 35, phoned her 39-year-old husband Kanye West to inform him the break-in, and he immediately cut short a gig at the Meadows Music & Arts Festival in Queens, New York, due to the family emergency.
The source explains that Kardashian West had left the children – daughter North, 3, and son Saint, 9 months – in New York City, where they have been staying to coincide with the latest dates on West’s concert tour, because she was concerned about their well-being amid the busy press of Paris Fashion Week.
“Kim left the kids in NYC because she thought it would be a much better environment for them,” explains the source. “Paris is crazy during fashion week and Kim had many obligations to focus on. She was in Paris for work and the kids had fun in NYC.”
Just hours before the robbery took place in Paris, North safely took in a performance of the Broadway hit Matilda back home in New York with two other children, a nanny and a security guard, a rep for the Shubert Organizaion in New York City confirmed to PEOPLE.
Later, in the early hours of Monday morning after Kardashian returned from a dinner hosted by designer Azzedine Alaïa, intruders posing as police officers entered her room at No Address Hotel, bound her hands and feet with tape then locked her in the bathroom before stealing a jewelry box worth $6.7 million in jewelry and a ring worth $4 million, police sources told La Parisien.
“She was afraid for her life,” a source tells PEOPLE.
Added another source closer to Kardashian: “Of course her family is all there for her, and Kanye is there for her, too, but she’s going to deal with the aftermath of this for a while.”
