Kim Kardashian West Goes on the 'Hardest Hike Ever' with Brother Rob Kardashian

Rob Kardashian has stayed out of the spotlight in recent months after battling weight gain and depression

From slamming critics with naked pregnancy pictures and channeling the late Elizabeth Taylor in glamorous photo shoots, Kim Kardashian West has a busy schedule – but the reality star still finds time to hang out with her younger brother, Rob Kardashian.

“Just went on the hardest hike ever today with @robkardashian,” the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star Tweeted on Friday.

Rob, 28, has completely stepped out of the spotlight in recent months. The reclusive reality star hasn’t been photographed since June 17, when he was spotted making a fast-food run at In-N-Out.

In recent years, Rob has struggled with weight gain and depression. On an April episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, mom Kris Jenner revealed the once athletic Rob had gained more than 100 lbs. in the past year.

Rob has skipped several family appearances and vacations, including Kim and Kanye West‘s 2014 wedding. Most recently, the star was notably absent at sister Kylie Jenner‘s 18th birthday festivities, for which the entire famous family turned out.

Sister Khloé’s fitness trainer Gunnar Peterson has also worked with Rob.

“I think Rob knows exactly what to do. He’s worked out [before] and he’s focused,” the celebrity coach said in June 2014 of Rob’s fitness regimen. “I know he can do it.”

This June, a source told PEOPLE Rob was “still struggling,” adding that the reality star “just can’t get motivated. Everyone is trying to be encouraging, but for the most part he doesn’t want to hear what he already knows.”

In a recent interview with Complex magazine, Khloé, 31, opened up about her close relationship with Rob, who lives with her.

“I wouldn’t have it any other way,” she told the magazine. “He’s going through a hard time right now, and it’s behind gates. With this crazy lifestyle you have to think of places where you can still have your freedom.”

Most recently, Rob took to Instagram to share a sweet snapshot Thursday of brother-in-law West kissing his 2-year-old daughter North‘s cheek.
